My Story

My first visit to St. Simons Island was in 1981 for the infamous Georgia-Florida game. I was a freshman at the University of Georgia. After that weekend, I knew one day that I would find a way to live on this gorgeous island. It’s unspoiled beauty and beachy charmed lifestyle was right up my alley. The sense of community here is very rare for a resort location. I love living on Saint Simons Island. I can’t think of another place that I would rather call “home”.

I’ve been a licensed real estate agent since 1988 and a broker since 2001. I grew up and worked for years in the real estate brokerage and auction business. My father had me working auctions when I was 15 years old. I’ve been involved with the marketing and sale of thousands properties…most were homes, building lots, and farms. I spent many years in Atlanta selling real estate through both auction and traditional means. In the eighties, I worked large live auctions events for financial institutions where we would sell, finance, and close over 400 homes in a week’s period.  These types of events were conducted all over the country. I had a blast and learned much. Real estate is in my blood and I have a passion for creating innovative ways to sell and save people money.

When I first moved to Saint Simons in 2010, I wanted to do something different, I just wasn’t sure what yet.  So, I waited patiently for the right concepts and time to start a different kind of real estate company. I knew for certain that the area didn’t need another traditional real estate firm and certainly not another Realtor.  There are plenty of excellent companies and Realtors in the area that provide exceptional full services. I wanted to do something innovative and new…something that would make buying and selling homes easier and more affordable without a drop off in essential services.

That is why I started Carew Rowell Real Estate, the only flexible fee broker on the island that works…whether buying or selling, be smart, call me, and save thousands of dollars!
